Social Justice, Marvel Comics, and Happy 100th Birthday, Jack “King” Kirby

With the anniversary of what would have been Jack “The King” Kirby’s 100th birthday coming up in just a few days time I thought I’d add a small article acknowledging the milestone but placing it in context of the current state of the comics industry and specifically that of Marvel Comics.

For my money Jack’s contribution to the world of comic books is unequaled. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid when Saturday morning cartoons featured the animated adventures¬† of the Fantastic Four with story-lines taken directly from the comic books created by Stan “The Man” Lee and Jack “The King” Kirby.

Stan’s writing and Jack’s pencils were a perfect one-two punch that assured my move away from DC (or as Stan Lee labeled them, Brand Echhh) and over to Marvel’s ranks. Marvel was innovative and overflowing with creativity. They also had a much more serious edge than DC that really appealed to me. They were also very, very, cool ūüôā

In contrast to the preachy, in-your-face, heavy handed treatment that Marvel comics delivers today, Stan and Jack were able to introduce minority characters with such smooth skill and finesse that you’d find yourself cheering for them without feeling compelled to do so.

A case in point is the Black Panther, aka T’Challa king of the Wakandas. This character debuted in Fantastic Four issue #52 published in 1966. He was initially, put forth as an antagonist to the Fantastic Four, and as an opponent that came within a hair’s breadth of utterly defeating them. In fact, it can be said he actually did beat them but for the intervention of the Native American support character, Wyatt Wingfoot.

T’Challa Revealed FF #52 1966

It’s soon revealed that the Black Panther is one of the good guys and that one, Ulysses Klaue (initially simply called “Klaw” or “Klaw the Master of Sound”) is the true villain in the tale. Klaw is an arms dealer and land grabber seeking to obtain the rare metal vibranium; a product only found within T’Challa’s African kingdom.

Klaw is depicted as an ersatz Afrikaner without ever having to identify him as such. Is Klaw a racist? Oh, probably; and yet that aspect of things wasn’t explored back in 1966 nor need it have been. Klaw is an evil guy bent on destroying the Black Panther. That’s all we need to know. We cheer for the Panther because he is so obviously a good guy. We cheer against Klaw because he’s evil. This is the difference (or should be) between comic book entertainment and politics. T’Challa is depicted as powerful, noble, righteous, and a great ally of the Fantastic Four. He is also an original, obviously African, non-derivative hero possessed of intelligence, great skill, and capability. Yet, none of this is done with a heavy hand.

Likewise, the character of the Falcon (Sam Wilson) who first appeared in Captain America #117 (1969). Sam meets Steve Rogers aka Captain America on a deserted island, the two train together and Sam a US Army veteran takes on the guise of the superhero, Falcon. ¬†Again, the same basic characterization is in place. Sam is obviously African-American, but he’s honorable, skilled, definitely a good guy, and powerful. Nuff said!

Make no mistake, Marvel could be topical and did address race issues more directly most notably in an Avengers story arc detailing a criminal organization called the Sons of the Serpent whose #1 raison d’√™tre is white supremacy.

Make no mistake, these were bad guys… they were murderers, xenophobic, and they were overt racists. ¬†In 1966 we all understood that; even an 8 year old as I was then understood it.

Fast forward 50 plus years and the Leftist writers at Marvel have resurrected this old criminal gang and applied their hateful propaganda to the present Trump administration. So, let’s take a look and attempt to explain why the template does not fit.

The Sons of the Serpent from Sam Wilson: Captain America #1 (2015) art by¬† Dan Acu√Īa

Honestly, the current political climate is so hot that I hesitate to even present any of this but as always it’s simply a means of blowing off some steam and exercising some stress relief via the catharsis of writing. Earlier this month a young woman was struck by a car and killed during a mass White Supremacist march/demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia. ¬†Since then the media has abandoned it’s failed ” President Trump colluded with Russia to steal the election” attack and replaced it with “Trump is a Nazi” or as Marvel Comics might see him, “The Serpent Supreme”.

In a classic case of art imitating real life, the writers at Marvel fail to distinguish between the far right and conservatives – instead painting both with the broad brush of intolerance and anti-diversity. ¬†It’s disheartening to say the least. Fans like myself who grew-up reading and enjoying Marvel comics are now being equated with the villains we cheered against as children.

WTF? Red Skull or Donald Trump for Marvel they’re pretty much the same guy

Full disclosure: I no longer read comics (with the exception of my treasured Marvel Master Works) but I do enjoy watching commentators analyse the current state of the industry on Youtube. Notable among these is fellow going by the name of Cap’n Cummings. ¬†His videos are entertaining and being a conservative his take on current Marvel is in line with my own. ¬†Another channel I enjoy is called Diversity and Comics (again featuring commentary with a conservative take). I encourage anyone interested in the comic book industry to check them both out.

Diversity and Comics on YouTube

Look folks, I’m a mixed race (Cree Indian and French, Scottish, German, and Irish) post-operative transsexual. As a kid my best friend was an East-Indian kid named, Davey. My favorite football player was the late Ernie Pitts, a black guy who played for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and who lived above the duplex our families shared in the late 1960s. My fellow conservatives and I are not the KKK. We do however, have concerns with globalism and open borders. We also aren’t fans of Islam even though many of us have co-workers, acquaintances, and in my case a friend who converted to Islam. And no, I do not hate any of these people.

Donald Trump as the villainous Modok taking a beating from a female Captain America in an alternate universe story from Spider Gwen Annual #1 ; art by Chris Visions, Michael Walsh, Chris Brunner and Annapaola Martello.

But therein lies the not so subtle difference between classic Marvel and this new Social Justice incarnation. Marvel is simply a leftist propaganda factory now. It’s the same difference between Stephen Colbert and the Leftist Comedy Central and Johnny Carson. Back in the day Johnny would take swipes at various politicians and his Ronald Reagan impersonations are unforgettable. But they weren’t attack pieces or mean-spirited as they are now; and it certainly wasn’t preachy propaganda.

For all its appeal towards diversity and tolerance, Marvel Comics has none for conservatives and patriots. They are reduced to being the fodder for their new line up of female powerhouse heroes and racial minorities; fit only for defeat and humiliation.

I wonder what Jack Kirby would think about all this? Honestly, I doubt the young Jack Kirby could even get a job at the current Marvel. I doubt they’re looking to help out any military veterans.

Anyways, Happy Birthday, Jack Kirby. Sadly, I doubt we shall see your like again.

The Scourge of #FakeNews

If anyone actually follows this blog (which I doubt) you’ll soon realize that I blog very sporadically. I can go months – maybe even a year without adding a new article. The reason is quite simple. We are so saturated with news and discussion about the current state of our world that saying anything is pretty much an exercise in redundancy.

So why say anything at all? Well quite simply, I created this blog as a means to vent when the volume to noise ratio becomes so high that I simply need a place to articulate my frustration. Once that’s done I can go about researching my family history (I’m a genealogy addict) or enjoy the calm and serenity of my backyard koi pond.

This latest entry was generated in response to a spate of recent fake news stories that came across my Twitter feed. Admittedly, much of what Mainstream Media (MSM) considers news is at best mere propaganda and at worst incentive to violence; the erosion of decency, and a herald to the end of western civilization as we have known it.

And no, I do not believe I am overstating my case.

Full disclosure, I no longer watch MSM broadcasts. I cut my cable months ago; so my only exposure to MSM is when a conservative pundit brings the latest outrage propagated by the broadcasting Left to my attention.

So what have we got? Well, folks simply a few screen captures from various “tweets” that collectively add up to a frank reminder that MSM is Fake News. So without further preamble….

¬†Above, CNN’s WH correspondent Jim Acosta gets caught out promoting #fakenews stating President Trump did not visit wounded senator, Steve Scalise as he claimed. Acosta tweeted that his source was a WH official but, twitter member, Jeff Dobbs sets the record straight. Acosta had allegedly gotten the statement from another reporter!? Maybe he did? Maybe he didn’t? That’s the problem with fake news… once the pattern of deceit is established there is no way you can trust anything they say.

So CNN doesn’t feel left out, here’s a tweet exposing MSNBC conducting a “random” woman on the street interview. But as Twitter member, The Trump Train reveals – the random woman is in fact former president Obama’s Campaign Director! Can you say #Fakenews? I knew you could.

It goes on and on… following yet another bunch of Islamic Jihadi inspired murders in London, CNN reporter,¬†Becky Anderson and her production team were caught “staging” a support demonstration by concerned Muslims over the murders. My favourite moment captured from the footage is when a couple of her production people were helping the Muslims get framed for the segment. “A little more to your left ladies” ¬†I’d be ROTFLOL if it wasn’t so pathetic and dangerous.

Seriously, I could go on forever with these stories. The MSM no longer reports news now they editorialize and spin everything. They could make Joseph Goebbels blush like a schoolgirl with the propaganda that has replaced traditional reporting.

I’ll leave off with one more example. This one is so poorly executed it should accompany the definition of “pathetic” in any illustrated dictionary . It is so lame and insipid I can’t believe they even attempted to spin it. It comes courtesy of a local provincial broadcaster.

I leave it to the reader to draw your own conclusions. Suffice to say after seeing the horror that transpired here I was expecting to see the Parliament buildings lit up in rainbow colours.   #teenagers

Transgender and the Public Washroom Debate

This is one of those controversies I only hesitantly get involved with. Given the current political climate my take on things guarantees pretty much no one will be happy with my opinion here. But *deep breath* here goes.

Apart from posturing on both sides of the political equation it really boils down to the issue of “passing”. ¬†Essentially, if an individual raises alarm bells because their physical presence doesn’t quite match up with their inner perception of themselves as male or female then there is a “potential” for conflict.

Note, this controversy is almost exclusively restricted to biological males using the women’s facilities as opposed to the other way round; and here the “biological” refers to the normative XY XX dichotomy and not chromosomal variants i.e., intersex individuals.

Conservative minded folks may stress repeatedly that gender dysphoria is a mental health issue and that to cave into the demands of the LGBTQ crowd is sanctioning mental sickness. Nonetheless, when encountering Trans individuals that “pass” there is no “triggering” because the transgender person basically goes under the radar.

Take a look …

The ladies above will garner attention by virtue of their obvious beauty but certainly not with regards to their gender. They look and behave as our society expects women to do so. Yes, they are exceptionally beautiful and I selected them specifically for the sake of argument insomuch as any fair minded individual would accept their status as females.

Of course any conservative based argument that says well they are still XY males therefore they are men no matter what they say is on every practical level irrelevant. Simply put, you would never know they were born male unless somehow their personal stories were known.

By way of contrast….

I am keenly aware of the sensitivity required when addressing this issue so rather than select an actual trans person I have selected two of my favorite fictional gender bending icons, Emily Howard and Florence (David Walliams and Matt Lucas respectively).

Yes, they are over-the-top in every way imaginable but again they suit my purposes here. No one would ever take these two as female; although they protest with applaudable verve (“But we’re Lay-deeees”) only to fail magnificently and repeatedly to comedic affect.

The Transgender community is acutely aware of the problems generated by the pressure to pass and whether consciously or not have sought to undo the status quo by opposing the gender-binary of male and female. Unfortunately, and predictably this has both irritated, confused, and annoyed staunch conservatives.

So from the sublime to the ridiculous we go. Below is a Huff Post article (chosen for its sympathetic take on LGBTQ issues)

Source: The Huffington Post UK

Once the gender binary is done away with it opens the field to a seemingly endless variety of gender classifications that no one can honestly be expected to adhere to let alone, memorize. I think the average person can understand the notion of the “butch-dyke” or the “sissy-boy”. Both types fall outside normative expectations of male and female behavior. However, neither of them have their actual sex in doubt. It is simply understood that they are gender minorities.

It quickly becomes apparent that far from simply acknowledging the need that all of us need to access the washroom from time to time there is a lot more being rolled up into all of this. Are we now to have 33 different washroom designations in order to accommodate this growing number of gender identities? Clearly, that is as improbable a solution as it is a practical impossibility.

Canadian academic, Jordan Peterson, has generated global headlines as a result of his refusal to bend to the wishes of students demanding he address them by a number of newly constructed gender pronouns. Below are a list of some of them:

Peterson sees this as nonsensical at best and dictatorial at its worst. Very real legal consequences are at play for anyone refusing to adhere to the newly instituted laws governing the use of this language. New York, for example, has established strict penalties for anyone bold or arrogant enough to flaunt the new laws:

¬†¬†And this isn‚Äôt just the government as employer, requiring its employees to say things that keep government patrons happy with government services. This is the government as sovereign, threatening ‚Äúcivil penalties up to $125,000 for violations, and up to $250,000 for violations that are the result of willful, wanton, or malicious conduct‚ÄĚ if people don‚Äôt speak the way the government tells them to speak. Nor is this likely to stay in New York City: The New York officials are arguing that this is just what the New York gender identity discrimination ban requires, and indeed it is part of the standard ideology expressed by many transgender rights activists; the same logic would be easily applicable by jurisdictions that have gender identity discrimination bans, or will have such bans; the federal government is taking the view that existing federal bans on sex discrimination also in effect ban gender identity discrimination, and the New York analysis would equally apply to that view; and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has already taken the view that it is illegal under federal law to persistently call employees by pronouns that correspond to their anatomical sex but not their gender identity, though it has not yet had occasion to opine about ‚Äúze.‚ÄĚ

See:¬†You can be fined for not calling people ‚Äėze‚Äô or ‚Äėhir,‚Äô if that‚Äôs the pronoun they demand that you use

The political Right is not immune to excesses in relation to all this either. One refrain I see repeated is that sexual predators seeing a security hole in public washroom access will begin donning frocks and bloomers in order to perpetrate their vile desires upon unsuspecting females of all ages.

Personally I believe the fear is overblown and misdirected despite Breitbart’s intentions to illustrate otherwise:

The problem is that anyone determined enough to perpetrate a sexual crime can do so. Conservatives have repeatedly said that “Gun control only works to keep weapons from the hands of law abiding citizens”. In much the same way, keeping trans-women from using female facilities will only inconvenience and possibly endanger them by forcing them to use male restrooms. And no, “They’re a bunch of perverts that deserve what they get” doesn’t¬†cut it. If one reads the Breitbart article only a handful tried to use the bloomers and “I’m a transsexual” defense. Again, enough sexual crime and illegal photography in women’s washrooms occurs without resorting to playing “the tranny-bathroom card.”

Kindness and compassion go a long way. However, it needs to be demonstrated on all sides of the political spectrum. I believe a rejection of the gender binary is a mistake. However, I have said previously that I opt for a social definition of gender. If a person looks, acts, functions in a given gender role then most people get on board with it.

I have friends from all walks of life with various ideological and conflicting beliefs. For most (if not all of them) my sexual identity and gender expression are a non-issue. I am frequently told, “I don’t even think about it. You’re just Rachel

And one final note on all this… cause I think I need to go use a washroom… these laws really do affect everyone and cut both ways.

¬† And in response to this poster I say: “God I hope not!” ūüėÄ

The Death of Canada or Welcome to the New World Order Eh?

It’s a shame but I can read the writing on the wall… Canada, the country I was born in, the country I have lived my 58 years in — is dying. Replaced by an ill-defined, identity-conflicted, mash of disparate communities bound by little more than a passport emblazoned with¬†an ill-suited coat of arms.

So what happened? Well the short answer is the Trudeau family happened. First, in the person of Pierre Elliot Trudeau 1919-2000, Canada’s 15th Prime Minister who spear-headed the birth of multiculturalism; and Second, Justin Trudeau ¬†b. 1971, Canada’s 23rd and current Prime Minister who is spearheading the birth of a post-national Canada.

If you are reading this, it is likely that you are familiar with the concepts of The New World Order, Globalism, and post-nationalism. Nonetheless, a simple reminder of what we were contrasted with what we are is warranted.

One need only take a look at Wikipedia’s article on multiculturalism in order to suss out the salient facts (but try and avoid the overt socialist bias as you read through the Wiki entry. I leave it to the reader to spot the various instances).

See: Multiculturalism in Canada

In the 21st century Canada is often characterised as being “very progressive, diverse, and multicultural”. However, Canada until the 1940s saw itself in terms of English and French cultural, linguistic and political identities, and to some extent Aboriginal.

I would argue that Canada’s traditional take on ourselves lasted long past the 1940s. I am old enough to remember singing “O’ Canada alongside the Lord’s Prayer at the start of each school day in the early 1960s and concluding each of those school days with “God Save the Queen.”

“The Black Pigeon Speaks” is an influential voice for the “alt-right” on You Tube. His take on Canada’s Post-Nationalist identity is required viewing for anyone interested in this topic. Please do yourself a favour and see:

Post-National Country: Canada has NO Core Identity

A point the author makes is worth repeating here. Our nation’s coat of arms represents the founding ethnic identity of our nation.

Canada’s genesis is predominantly British, forged alongside an¬†uneasy alliance with French speaking, Quebec, and our admittedly marginalized Native peoples. This identity is represented in our national symbols, the languages we speak, and in the laws of our land.

We are not the United States… we have no 2nd Amendment. Our country was legislated into existence. It was not born in revolution. ¬†And yet, much like the United States we are a nation of immigrants. First in the form of Empire expanding explorers – then settlers, mostly in the form of the ethnicities represented by our coat of arms. Then by later arrivals of German, Ukrainian, Polish, and other European ethnicities – and finally by Asian populations predominantly Chinese and East Indian.

There were hiccups along the way of course… I remember being shocked at seeing a number of Asians lying spread-eagle face down on a Vancouver street in the early 80s. A dozen or more cops stood over them with service revolvers unholstered. ¬†A startling reminder that new arrivals often ghettoize themselves into their own communities separate from the wider population. No!¬†it’s not a racial thing … but it is most definitely an ethnic reality. We’re all familiar with the rise of Little Italy’s and Chinatowns etc… in American and Canadian cities. ¬†Yet that scene in the 1980s was something I had never seen in Canada before.

Today we see it replicated in Toronto, Ontario and in Surrey, British Columbia. If I read or hear of a shooting in Toronto I safely assume it is Black on Black crime born of immigrants from the Caribbean. If it occurs in Surrey, South Asian violence is the guess. Up North, I assume a First Nations incident. It’s sadly predictable. It’s as easy as it is for our American cousins to ID the nature of a shooting if it occurs in Chicago, Baltimore, or Detroit. ¬†And¬†No! It’s not a racial thing!

Of course all this pales when compared to a single catalyst that changed Canada forever…

If Helen of Troy was the face that launched a thousand ships then this photo reproduced ad nauseum over mainstream media is surely the body that launched a million migrants. Of course, the dis-information that accompanied the photo was off the scale. He was wrongly reported as having fled the war ravaged country of Syria where in fact, he had departed Turkey. His plight was described as desperate beyond all measure when in reality his death was entirely unnecessary and completely avoidable.

If any proof were needed you need only ask where the boy’s father is? ¬†He’s in Syria? Of course the mainstream media paints his return in the most heroic terms possible:

¬†“Aylan Kurdi’s father in emotional return to Syria after tragic death of wife and sons” Source: Mirror

It makes a good story but remember they exited from Turkey not Syria.

Regardless of the facts, the image was used to fuel a massive influx of migrants into Europe and other western countries including Canada. Videos and articles are all over the Internet alerting those that want to listen that this massive influx on a level never seen before likely spells the beginning of the end of the Nation State.

One of the big players in all this is George Soros… he has helped finance the migrant crisis and other destabilizing social movements such as Black Lives Matter. Once again, I turn the reader’s attention to “The Black Pigeon speaks” he has produced a succinct summary of George Soros in an entertaining video he entitles:

George SOROS: The One-Man Illuminati Machine

¬†That Soros is public enemy number 1 when it comes to wanting an end of the Nation State there can be no doubt. Simply do an Internet search on “National Borders Are The Enemy”. Nuff said.

And now Canada and Soros are dancing together. Although I abhor the CBC their perceived legitimacy by a portion of our population makes their reference here of some use. See:

Canada to join with UN, George Soros to export private refugee sponsorship

Back in 1965 Yours truly (the tall boy 4th from left back row) and Davey (his last name escapes me) were the only visible minority kids in our class. Fast forward to 2011 and you are hard-pressed to find a white kid in the mix. The school is 12th Avenue Elementary in British Columbia.

Canada’s changing demographic will present challenges. There is nothing wrong with other cultures and most definitely nothing wrong with other ethnicities. However, without an appeal to a united ethos or creed we are subject to great division, strife and even physical harm.

I can see where this is heading… Nation States are beginning to cede power to the United Nations. Power that is relinquished is almost impossible to regain. Yes, a unified ethos is called for but I’d feel better if it were one born of our traditional Canadian identity and not one unilaterally dictated by the UN and regurgitated wholesale by our leaping gnome of a Prime Minister.

Diversity is our Strength?

Not really. Despite how many time Trudeau may enunciate those words. I’m not buying it.

IT HAS BECOME increasingly popular to speak of racial and ethnic diversity as a civic strength. From multicultural festivals to pronouncements from political leaders, the message is the same: our differences make us stronger.

But a massive new study, based on detailed interviews of nearly 30,000 people across America, has concluded just the opposite. Harvard political scientist Robert Putnam — famous for “Bowling Alone,” his 2000 book on declining civic engagement — has found that the greater the diversity in a community, the fewer people vote and the less they volunteer, the less they give to charity and work on community projects. In the most diverse communities, neighbors trust one another about half as much as they do in the most homogenous settings. The study, the largest ever on civic engagement in America, found that virtually all measures of civic health are lower in more diverse settings.

“The extent of the effect is shocking,” says Scott Page, a University of Michigan political scientist.

See: The downside of diversity A Harvard political scientist finds that diversity hurts civic life. What happens when a liberal scholar unearths an inconvenient truth?

Of course, there is no going back. And now Canada readies itself for the largest influx of Islam in its short history. Growing up I do not recall ever seeing a single mosque. Now, I suspect it is a sight I will have to get used to.

One last image … my family, both of my adopted heritage and that belonging to my biological origins. It embodies what Canada once was — and is represented by our now outdated, Coat of Arms.

So long Canada; we hardly knew ye.

Do Not Trust Yelp Reviews and Here’s Why

I’m a bit late to the party on this one but please… for the sake of many small businesses get the word out. Yelp is a review site ostensibly meant to provide helpful feedback on many businesses in order to help you decide which restaurant, hairdresser, hotel, etc… to choose from in a competitive market place.

Unfortunately, Yelp operates like an extortion racket run by the mob and uses strong arm tactics in order to solicit payment from companies in order to have negative reviews removed or moderated by the victimized business. Obviously, there are cases where a business will generate false reviews in order to inflate its profile. There are also cases where the business is genuinely at fault. A disinterested server, inferior product, etc…

Nonetheless, when it comes to Yelp the fix is in.

Facebook groups have begun appearing decrying Yelp’s business practices. Take for example the aptly named “Yelp Extortion” group on Facebook. It’s “Description” opens up with the following paragraph:

This page is intended to inform consumers that yelp is a scam and act as a platform for honest small businesses ready to actively defend ourselves against Yelp extortion and defamation. This Page was created by an extreme sports marketing company that has a genuine love for alternative lifestyle sports and takes pride in what has always been an honest business. Yelp is tarnishing our company name by filtering real positive reviews and keeping disproven negative reviews viewable that often contradict the content guidelines on their own website. They will not cooperate with us and only contact businesses with low ratings when attempting to extort them for advertising purposes.

Basically, Yelp works businesses over by saying for a healthy fee they can remove negative reviews or move them lower down the pecking order. They rationalize inquires as to why a positive review is posted so low on the totem pole by suggesting that the reviewer is not trusted,  or suspected of being a plant by the victimized small business.

The cost for the fix?

We can move them. Well, for $299 a month.

See: Yelp and the Business of Extortion 2.0

A crowd-funded¬†Independent Yelp film entitled “Billion Dollar Bully” has been produced. The film is currently in post-production but a couple trailers are now available on You Tube.

Here’s some recommended websites to further your understanding of Yelp’s practices:

And one final reference — Yelp’s popularity has not escaped the notice of South Park’s creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone who skewered Yelp reviewers in a 19th season episode entitled:

Your’re Not Yelping

I’d have preferred them to have come out gang busting the company itself but the episode offers quite a few laughs (Although, it’s not recommended for the weak stomached among you.)

Conservative Social Media Alternatives

With Apologies to World War II’s Nazi Party

With social media giants such as You Tube, Facebook, and Twitter becoming increasingly censorious, antagonistic, and dictatorial¬†towards conservatives I have begun looking for alternatives to the status quo. It is early days and the few alternatives I have found so far are pale imitations of their established counter-parts. Nonetheless, here are three options I have stumbled upon so far. For interest’s sake each platform will feature an example of a victim’s experience with the status-quo’s strong-arm tactics.

As the name suggests this is a USA-centric alternative to Facebook. It is also, perhaps, the hardest sell of the alternative sites. We all have friends and family with vastly differing political opinions. It is a legitimate concern that users of an overtly “conservative” social media platform may be limiting their social impact by preaching to the choir so-to-speak.

You’ll have to invite your conservative thinking friends over or else the site takes on the appearance of a political BBS more than anything remotely resembling¬†Facebook. Still, the fact that I as a Canadian have registered may signal the advent of a more international reach for the fledgling service as other folks from various corners of the world sign on.

Facebook Temporarily Suspends Account Over Hillary Satire Piece

An alternative to the powerhouse known as You Tube. Popmodal suffers alongside the other conservative platforms listed here by virtue of its relatively late appearance on the Internet and its lack of content.

Still, I looked up “The Beatles” my favourite group and at least some of their stuff was available. Obviously, it will take time to build up content but I am hoping as the Left continues its relentless pressuring of conservatives more people will sign on. Personally, I think it’s inevitable.

Besides, You Tube is really laying the figurative Jackboots down and have established a new program called “You Tube Heroes”. It works along the same-lines of World War 2’s “Hitler Youth”. The “heroes” are encouraged to seek out and report/snitch on community standards abuses. Of course, all this follows on the heels of the advent of the “Social Justice Warrior” phenomena. ¬†To see how this all fleshes out check out the video below.

Twitter has become increasingly unfriendly to conservatives with contradictions, uneven applications of policy and one notable hi-profile ban in the person of Milo Yiannopoulos. To borrow a phrase from the political left, Twitter is far from being a “safe space” for conservative voices.

Gab is the technological brainchild of Andrew Torba a young entrepreneur who has been overtly welcoming of conservatives to his new social media platform. As far as I am aware, GAB is still in Beta testing. However, once it is ready for prime-time I’ll be sure to hop on board.

Below is a link to an article heralding GAB’s genesis and touching upon Twitter’s banning of Milo Yiannopoulos.

To a very large extent the fact that conservative alternatives to the increasingly hostile icons of social media (pardon the pun) are becoming a perceived necessity is a sad commentary on our political climate. The Left are constantly heralding the virtues of tolerance and diversity. And yet it is they that are initiating so many draconian measures from so many social corners; Measures that are anything but tolerant of any discordant note enunciated by the political Right.
